Sept 9, 2017

The last month has been filled with events.  Sag Aftra Foundation offers voiceover events to members and I've been taking advantage of them.  Had a few auditions but mainly have been working on my poetry book which has taken most of the time with editing and designing book.

August 8, 2017

Happy Birthday, Isabella!

August 5, 2017

It's been quite a month.  I've attended poetry workshops, auditions for a series regular and I'm currently working on my website poetic resurrection.  Hoping to finish with the final touches on poetry.  Until next month, take care and follow your bliss.

July 9, 2017

Yesterday I posted my Facebook Fan Page for poetry.  I have been writing poetry since I was a child and I'm currently working on a book entitled "Inspire Me - Raw".  Please like my fan page at https://www.facebook.com/poetic.resurrection/

On the acting side I also had an audition for a movie.

June 15, 2017

Had another audition for Shameless.  Thank you John Levy for calling me in.

May 16, 2017

Just joined Ankrum Artists Management.  Thank you David.  Let's make this a successful venture.  Really looking forward to working with you.

May 6, 2017

It's been an exciting week.  Working on The Clash book and have people willing to assist me with it in many aspects from legal to publishing.  Also, looking to sign with a manager so reviewing the contract.  Thanks to my attorney Mark for all his support.

March 10, 2017

Much time has passed since I've written in this blog.  The busy holidays, etc.  I'm sure you can understand.  There have been several auditions since my last post.  I'm excited about the two movies I did last year.  They're schedule to be released this year.  Keeping my fingers crossed for their success.  Until next time sending much love and blessings.

August 5, 2016

Yesterday I recorded ADR for "A Happening of Monumental Proportions" AHOMP.  I got to take  a sneak peek at my scenes.  It was great to see Judy Greer and some of the cast there.  This film has been a great experience due to the wonderful people that worked on it.

Had another audition for  a film earlier this week.  Waiting to hear on that one.  Commercial fell through but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the two films.

July 30, 2016

It's been quite a month.  My mom had her birthday yesterday.  Happy Birthday, Mom!

I've had a callback for a commercial and a movie audition that went really well.  I'll know more about these two come next week.

Went to a screening of OUT OF THE WILD, I play the role of Hester.  Shout out to Paul, Ben and cast & crew.  I enjoyed the film.  Yeah!

Adventures of YoYo Dieter:

I've been working on this and redoing the episodes for my YouTube channel and had a setback but now I feel the project is moving forward.  A show is so much harder to put on then anticipated and I've had many years experience in entertainment.  Thanks to Gina Amador for all her support.

Take care all until my next post.

June 25, 2016

It's summer and auditions are slower than usual.  Didn't get Shameless.  Too bad that was recurring.  Still working on my other website "Adventures of Sonia"  hoping to launch that this soon.  Until next time, be blessed.

June 16, 2016

Had an audition for Shameless.  Everyone was really nice there. It's one of those things that you never know.

June 7, 2016

Had an audition for a movie.  Keep everyone waiting for over an hour.   I was about to leave but decided when you wait that long you might as well finish.  They were very nice when you finally got in.  Actually got a call back but was out of town in Chicago on call back date.  Guess it wasn't meant to be.

May 21, 2016

Last night we filmed one scene from "The Adventures of the Yoyo Dieter" soon to be seen on YouTube.  We need to edit it and we plan on shooting another scene today.  Three scenes need to be completed before releasing to YouTube.  Will keep you posted.  BTW, amazing thanks to Ursula Richards for all her help.

April 9, 2016

Going to the wrap party for A Happening of Monumental Proportions.  The shoot was great.  I had the pleasure of working with Judy Greer and meeting Common.  The kid I worked with Marcus was so professional and he's only 11 years old.  Such nice people to work with.  I hope I have the pleasure of working with them again.

UPDATE:  Had a wonderful time.  It was great seeing everyone again.

March 13, 2016

Was happy to hear that I booked the film A Happening of Monumental Proportions, a comedic drama with Allison Janney & Common.  Directed by Judy Greer. This is a fun character.  I went on the audition on my way to work and was dressed up for work which was over dressed for the role.   I figured I'll go anyway, you never know.

Well you never do know and here it is. Thank you to my agents Connor Ankrum and the casting office of Kim Coleman.

October 10, 2015

This has been an exciting week.  Starting with my birthday on Monday October 5th then Tuesday I was offered a role in a film called "Out of the Wild" role of Hester.  I needed to leave for Las Vegas the next day for the shoot on Thursday.  I drove and it was one of the most boring five hour drives I've ever done.  Next time I'll fly there.  Got back on Friday around 4pm after leaving at 10am with one stop and vegged when I got home.

Paul Krizan thank you for being such a pleasant director to work with.  Ben Ashbrook (producer) you're amazing and one of the nicest guys.  Mark (writer) lovely story.  My fellow actors Jean Louise Kelly (Jessie) and John Diehl (Henry) were such a pleasure and I hope to work with you again. Thanks to Amy, Gabrielle, Yusuke and Simone for all your help.

Until next time.  Be blessed.

August 6, 2015

Looking forward to another print audition tomorrow.  I was being considered for the Botox campaign.  Even though it was different for me, I thought lets do it.  Change things up a little.  I didn't get it but it was exciting to do something new.

As an actor you're sometimes asked to audition for parts/print that might not be your first choice but I figure "why not"?  Sometimes getting out of your comfort zone is what's needed.  Maybe a new door will open up.

Until next time.  Be Blessed.

May 7, 2015

Today I got signed with DDO Agency for print.  Looking forward to working with Laura and Stephanie Lilly.  Thank you ladies.

I also went out on a Dodge Ram commercial spot today.  Thank you Lorri.

May 5, 2015

It has been a wonderful two weeks.  My acting dry spell is finally over and I had the pleasure of working with wonderful actors and crew on the fall release TNT series Agent X.  I worked for three days at the Veluzat Movie Ranch in Santa Clarita.  It's an amazing set.  It's made to look like a third world country and in my case a small town in Mexico.  Thanks to Felix Alcala director and my fellow actors: Angie, Arturo, Jeff, Julia, Cecelia, Carlos and Emilio.  Thanks Alex for helping with the Mexican accent.   It was fun and a pleasure working with all of you.

May 1, 2015

My manager Robert called and told me I got the TV show Agent X.  It's such amazing news.   Thank you Robert & Walter (126 Mgmt).

April 3, 2015

Blogging, one of the many things actors have to update.  Profiles everywhere: Facebook, Twitter, personal websites, SAG/AFTRA and now I have a social media person whom I see on the average of once a month and I have to tell you I feel like I'm learning a different language.  It's a full time job keeping up with this as well as writing my solo show which we are planning on having up by September 2015.  I had June 2015 at first but I was informed that it would be better to release in the fall.

On another note I had an audition with the nicest people for a web series called "The Real Steal".  I wish them much luck with the project.  I didn't get the role but they were nice and considerate enough to contact me and let me know if they get picked up I would be written in.  Love that.  Until next time.

January 16, 2015

It's a new year.  Towards the end of last year I joined 126 Management.  Thank you Robert & Walter.  I realized I need to focus more on my creative career and leave the rest to the professionals.  Currently working on my solo show script and hoping to have a reading within the next couple of months.  Until my next update take care.

September 26, 2014

It has been over a year since I've updated this blog.  Sorry.  I made a promise to myself to update on a weekly basis.  I've had several auditions and just had one last week for a new TV show called "Jane the Virgin".  I read for two roles and one of them was fun to perform.  Still waiting to hear from producers.  It's a waiting game.  In the meantime, since my career has been sluggish (understatement), I've decided to work on a one woman show.  It's called the Adventures of a YoYo Dieter.  There will be a website to give you info on the show and it's currently under construction.  The website is called: Adventures of Sonia - www.adventuresofsonia.com.  Since I've had many adventures in my life (more like murphy's law) this is where the idea for the website/show originated from.  I have a wonderful director Che Rae Adams and she's been a blessing while I work on the writing and performance of the show. Until next week.  Have a great one!

August 9, 2013

Today is my lovely niece Isabella's birthday.  An aspiring actress herself.  I wish her much success, love, happiness and great health to enjoy all those blessings.  Isabella you know when you set your mind to any of your dreams you can make them work out for you.  Love you very much!

August 8, 2013

Had an call back for "Menopausia" the musical.  It was a great learning experience when it comes to the musical audition process since I'm use to auditioning for television & film.  Much more work and now I know what to work on for my next audition.

May 24, 2013

It’s been awhile since I have written.  In the last few months I went on several auditions, vocal training and writing classes.  I’ve actually enjoyed the slowness of my career lately.  Weird but true.  It’s now the slow season in acting.  Most TV shows have shot their pilots and know if they were picked up for the fall.  Summertime is for movies and commercials and I love working on movies.  Maybe I’ll have some good news – meaning I’ve finally broke my non-booking streak.  Until then have a great summer.

March 9, 2013

It's a beautiful day on the Big Island of Hawaii (Kona).  I've been here for a couple of days and then later tonight we leave for Honolulu.  Saw the volcano yesterday, pretty cool.  Not much happening in terms of acting but having a lovely mini vacation.  Until next week, have a good one.

March 2, 2013

Had two commercial auditions this week that were fun.  Writing sessions finish and won't start up again until 3/14/13.  Looking forward to finishing my book. Have a great weekend.

February 23, 2013

I've been recently taking vocal lessons and didn't realize that "legit music" is not only older musical theater numbers and style, but a singer needs to sing it differently vs. "current style" musical theater (don't know if that's the correct term) is more belted even when it comes to singing the higher notes.  That was really interesting to me.  I know I could sing but really didn't know the difference. Although someone versed in musical theater would consider that MT-101.  Happy to say I can do both.  Yeah.

February 3, 2013

I had the most amazing two weeks.  As previously mentioned I had two auditions.  The Tyler Perry show I auditioned, the age was changed to 60.  I know I won't be getting a call back there.  But, I did get one for "Menopause".  It went well but since my singing voice fell between two of the characters, I didn't get it.  It was a great experience and about two months ago I made the comment of "missing singing" and this audition came up.  Also, I'm represented by my agency for TV/Film and now Theater.  Yeah!  A great two weeks even though I didn't get cast in either show.

Nakia who referred me to Ricki Masler also is a photographer and she's good!  I had the privilege of shooting more headshots with her.  I'll upload those once I make my choices.  Have a fabulous week.

January 26, 2013

Judging from the last time I wrote, it was a very busy holiday season not in auditions but just with life.  I auditioned for Tyler Perry's "The Have and Have Nots" pilot.  Haven't heard anything yet but it normally takes a couple of days to hear back.  Got a referral from my friend Nakia to "Menopause the Musical" in Spanish.  Met with Ricki Masler CD and Director Seth Greenleaf.  Really nice people and was put on the list to see the show in English.  Great show and the voices were amazing.  He wanted me to check out the Professional Woman in the show.  The woman that played her in the English version was amazing.  Wow, what a great voice.  I've got much to live up to with this one.  I'll check back with you next week.  I should have some news on these two shows by then.

November 17, 2012

I've had a couple of auditions and nothing.  My confidence has taken a hit and I've either got to get it together or move on.  I've been taking a writing class that I really enjoy.  Writing a book that I would like to publish on Kindle.  I plan on making it an inexpensive book so that you can try it and hopefully have a few laughs.  The holidays are coming and I'm already getting busy.  Prepping for Christmas and going back to Chicago for Thanksgiving.  Can't wait to see my family.  It has  been a while.  Have a great Thanksgiving and I'll check in with you before the end of the year.

October 12, 2012

It's been a while since I last wrote.  Within the last month, I've gone to Hawaii and met some of the behind the scenes people from "Last Resort".  Not working on the show (yet) but hope to soon.  Had lunch on the set 3 times with my friend who was working there.  Love Hawaii but wouldn't live there unless I had a hefty bank account and working on one of the two shows there which are "Last Resort" & "Hawaii Five-O".

Also, starting writing a comedy book and so far have gotten good response to my pages.  Let's see where this takes me.

That's all for now.  Have a great week.

September 1, 2012

Well it's been almost a month.  In that month I finish the boot camp acting class and learn a great deal.  I'm happy to say I've found my coaches for when I get my next audition.  Acting lately has been slow for me which gives me time to purge again.  I'm constantly purging.  I'm trying to be a minimalist.  Who know that would be so much work?   Have a blessed and wonderful Labor Day.  Until next time take care.

August 4, 2012

Missed a week here of writing on my blog. I've signed up to take a couple of classes and they are straining my memory.

The first class I took and it's for three weeks on Wednesday is a grammar class for creative writing. I was okay for about an hour of terminology that i haven't had since i was in high school. The last hour my mind became butter. Unlike the class today; this was at the Stan Kirsch Studios. Lots of information and it was great to actually get feedback on how my performance was. I’m looking forward to the next two weeks of this acting boot camp.

I'll check in again next week and hopefully I'll have some great acting news.  Until then have a blessed week.

July 21, 2012

Another week has gone by.  No auditions this week.  Usually not too many auditions during the summer except for movies & commercials.  Good News a friend of mine is working behind the scenes in a movie.  She'll be leaving next week for 3 months.  Congrats!  Until next week, take care.

July 15, 2012

Past week was slow.  Got together with my previous agent Josh Schiowitz for brunch today.  He's such a great guy, I was happy to see him.

Not much happened acting wise.  Going to be taken some advance acting classes.  Let's see if this helps me get over my slump.

Sitting at home sending out postcards.  Yes, I still periodically do the mailing.

Starting a writing class.  Well, actually a grammar class.  I use to be so good at grammar and now it basically sucks.  Have great writing ideas (so I've been told) just have a problem with the writing since I get so frustrated with the grammar part (just a major component setback)

Life is good in LA and quite hot I might say but that's not saying much compared to the rest of the US.

Have a wonderful week.

July 7, 2012

As expected this was a slow week for auditions.  Following up on some classes.  Need to keep my skills up.

Have a great week.  I'll check in next week.

June 30, 2012

Had another audition on Wednesday, spent most of the day in San Pedro where "Belle's"shoots.  CD was great.  Knew going in that i didn't look the part but I wanted to meet the casting director.

Have a wonderful 4th of July.

June 25, 2012

I didn't think I would be writing so quickly but I had another audition today for a film called "The Librarian" .  A really fun and pleasant experience.  The cool thing about this is that it shoots in Costa Rica.  I've never been there.

Until the next time I have more news.  Take care.

June 23, 2012

In keeping with updating my blog, I've had a great week.  New TV show which is a spin-off of "The Closer" called "Major Crimes" met with producer, director  and casting.  They were really great.  Won't know if I got it for a couple of days.  Please wish me luck.  I can really use it.

Update:  didn't get the role.

I also won some money this week.  Yeah!

Until next week.  Have a wonderful week.  Bless.

June 11, 2012

I just realize I haven't updated this in quite some time.  I did go out on two series regulars.  Sorry to say didn't book either.  I've had auditions and have meet with producers and yet no bookings.  I was told about a book that helps you get over this.  It's called "The Big Leap"   It was a real eye opener.  Let's see if this coming season is better.  I will make it a point to update this blog at lease once a week.  Summer is not a busy time for acting, at least when it comes to TV shows.  I'll let you know how this goes.  BTW, if you have any questions for me, let me know I'd be happy to answer any acting questions you might have.

March 16, 2011

Well Pilot Season is almost over and at least i was able to audition for the "UNTITLED LEW MORTON / ROB SCHNEIDER PROJECT.  The script was funny and the role was for a series regular.  I auditioned for it knowing that I might not be old enough to have a 25 to 35 year old.  Either way it was a pleasure meeting with the casting office.
