Overwhelmed Yet Exciting

Exciting It has been an incredibly exciting two weeks. Sorry about the delay in posting. As promised here’s the cover of my upcoming book.

I’ve been going out on auditions and was grateful to book one last week.

I’m also updating my soon-to-be-released ebook Inspire Me Series: Book 1 & 2 is now available for pre-sale on Amazon.

I’ve been working on the paperback and it should be up for pre-sale by May 20th.

On my Poetic Resurrection podcast, I did an episode called Overwhelmed Yet Excited, and here’s an excerpt from it.

Have you ever wished for a certain situation to happen, be it a career, family event, or a relationship, only to be overwhelmed when it does? There’s excitement there to see how a dream is materializing and then the overwhelmed button seems to turn on just when you feel your life is going your way. Is it because we’re not prepared? Can it be that we anticipated a different scenario? What we perceive is just that—a perception.

This happened to me lately. As an actor, you want more opportunities to audition. More auditions equal more possibilities of booking a job. Got a new agent, and I assumed the experience I have had in the past, would continue. It didn’t. I’ve been going out on many auditions. It’s so exciting to audition and book one or two here and there. Great! I love it!

The situation of feeling overwhelmed happened when I didn’t alter my regular routine to accommodate the change. I was trying to do it all.

I believe the answer I’m looking for is: balance because life is good.

So, what is being overwhelmed, excited, and balanced?

Overwhelm

According to the GoodTherapy website, the definition of overwhelmed is emotional overwhelm is a state of being beset by intense emotion that is difficult to manage. It can affect your ability to think and act rationally. It could also prevent you from performing daily tasks.

Excitement

Whereas excitement is an emotional state marked by enthusiasm, eagerness or anticipation, and general arousal (APA Dictionary)/

Balance

Is a harmonious relationship or equilibrium of opposing forces or contrasting elements.

Can we do it all? I believe you can make the most of these situations. First, ask yourself what is really important to you? What are you willing to let go of? Can you write out a pros and cons list for each situation? Quiet the mind. Do some meditation, and go for a walk. Do something that brings you joy, right here, right now. Life changes and so can you. Let go of what no longer serves your life. Follow your dreams. We are resilient.

Many Blessings!

Three Auditions – Interviews – Books

This week I had three auditions in three categories. I had an audition for a TV show, a commercial, and a print job. Can’t complain, feel blessed.  I’d be even more blessed to book any of them.

In addition, I was interviewed on two podcasts and I’ll post those episodes once they’re up. On my second appearance for the Mysterious Goings On Podcast, we discuss my forthcoming book entitled Inspire Me Series: Book 1 & 2  with a reading of several poems including a reading from my upcoming book Inspire Me: Awakening Dreams. Additionally, I was interviewed on the Faithful Film Fanatic and we discussed my acting experiences, auditions, heartbreak, and my experiences with the ups and downs of being an actor.

Finally, on the Poetic Resurrection Podcast this week I interview one of my favorite poets Martina Reisz Newberry and we discuss her new book Glyphs. She also reads her poem Glyphs in the Canyon

We participate in the Amazon Associates program and all proceeds go to supporting the website.

A Brief Hello

No news on the acting front, so I will make it brief.

I’ve been working most of the week on my podcast and new book. Finishing up the publisher side of the gambit. Copyrighting and final checks on formatting and layout with a beautiful new cover. When all the publisher duties are done I will reveal the new cover.

This picture is from one of my quotes entitled Pivoting Moments – In Life There Are Pivoting Moments of Awakening.

A Great Week for Auditions

DDO Sonia Iris LozadaAs I had reported last blog it’s been an exciting week. I have now had six total auditions since I signed with DDO Agency two weeks ago. Auditions started last week Friday and here we are on Wednesday. Today I was lucky enough to have two auditions in the same place. The second casting director was kind enough to see me earlier so I wouldn’t have to return to the studio.

I recorded a self-taping for a TV show this week. If I get it, I should hear by the end of the week.

On the book front, the cover to the new book Inspire Me Series Book 1 & 2 has been approved and will be out soon. I really like the cover. I’ll unveil the cover next time.

Have a great week. Hoping to have booking info next time.

An Exciting Week

DDO Artists AgencyIt’s been an exciting week since I’ve joined my new commercial agents and I’ve had two auditions and a third one tomorrow. All since Friday. Wow. I haven’t had this many auditions in a row in years. So grateful!.

Auditions are great because you get one more opportunity to book a job. The acting skills are then your responsibility to further your chances in booking this gig. I’ve had many instances that the casting office loved me and even called my agents to let them know how great I was and then I didn’t book it. It happens. Life happens. Once you’ve done your part it’s up to the advertising or production company to make their decisions.

On the book front, I’m working on a complication book which will include my first two books in the Inspire Me Series and some new poems from my upcoming book Inspire Me: Awakening Dreams.

Chica & the Man E6Chica and the Man has a new episode as well. On March 31st we discuss “Successes”. We normally hear about the lows in peoples lives but we wanted to concentrate on the good experiences. The strange thing is some of the smallest incidents create so much joy.

Another Exciting Week in March!

DDO Sonia Iris LozadaI can’t tell you how grateful I am for the month of March. It has been amazing. As mentioned last week, I had a wonderful time on the print shoot. This week I got picked up for the commercial department at the DDO Agency. They represented me in the print department and are responsible for the print job I booked. Thank you Julie, Cassie and Krystal.  Thank you Marlene for your welcome email.

Print Jobs and Acting Friends

Sonia Iris Lozada Print Job
Sonia Lozada

This week has been exciting. I had booked a print job as mentioned last week and it was for one day. They called me in for a second day – Yay! Met really great people on the set and we exchanged numbers. That is always a plus. Grateful for the opportunity.

Worked on a SAG short and it got a go ahead to continue. I’ll be completing the show in May.

This is a great surprise and excitement for two of my acting friends. The film short they did was nominated for an Oscar! Wow! There are only three or four actors and two of them are friends. Small world and I’m very excited for them. Actors need to support each other.

Healing Women PoetsPlease visit the Poetic Resurrection Podcast. This week in honor of Women’s History Month we celebrate Healing Poets. These women are poets and their poetry is self-healing and mindful. Check it out.

Until next week. Be grateful, be fair and have compassion for all.

Yay! I Booked a Print Job

Good news this week. I booked the print job I mentioned last blog where I was on hold. Monday 3/14/2022 is the fitting and the actual shoot is 3/18/2022. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly. I just love booking gigs. I didn’t even have to audition for this one. Yay!

Poetic Resurrection Women LeadersIn the meantime, check out my Poetic Resurrection Podcast where I acknowledge the wonderful women leaders who have been on the podcast in honor of Women’s History Month. The entire month is dedicated to the women that have been on the podcast.

Consistency or Not

Sonia Iris Lozada

Consistency. A word most of strive for and then something happens and there goes consistency. That’s me with my acting website. I just realized I hadn’t posted in two weeks. In this meantime, I interviewed two new guests – Christoph Jenkins and CEO Spoken King on my Poetic Resurrection Podcast. February was Black History Month and I enjoyed speaking with Christoph, CEO and Egypt.

As for acting (inconsistent), I’m on hold for a print job. No theatrical auditions lately. I’ll keep you posted and fingers crossed things will get prosperous

Typical Week

This past week has been a typical week. Well, as typical as it can be knowing we’re still in a pandemic. I had another self-tape for the same casting office, as I did the previous week.

I’m working on a new Pinterest page that includes my personal quotes and lines from my poetry. I’ll post a link when that is up. I’ll be updating my gallery because I have new pictures.

There’s a new episode of the Poetic Resurrection Podcast (releases weekly) with guest Dr. Egypt Iredia a medical doctor and poet who got into spirituality and now incorporates her passions.

My other podcast Chica and the Man which only releases once a month. The last episode on that one is Let’s Talk about Cars.
