A Great Week for Auditions

DDO Sonia Iris LozadaAs I had reported last blog it’s been an exciting week. I have now had six total auditions since I signed with DDO Agency two weeks ago. Auditions started last week Friday and here we are on Wednesday. Today I was lucky enough to have two auditions in the same place. The second casting director was kind enough to see me earlier so I wouldn’t have to return to the studio.

I recorded a self-taping for a TV show this week. If I get it, I should hear by the end of the week.

On the book front, the cover to the new book Inspire Me Series Book 1 & 2 has been approved and will be out soon. I really like the cover. I’ll unveil the cover next time.

Have a great week. Hoping to have booking info next time.

An Exciting Week

DDO Artists AgencyIt’s been an exciting week since I’ve joined my new commercial agents and I’ve had two auditions and a third one tomorrow. All since Friday. Wow. I haven’t had this many auditions in a row in years. So grateful!.

Auditions are great because you get one more opportunity to book a job. The acting skills are then your responsibility to further your chances in booking this gig. I’ve had many instances that the casting office loved me and even called my agents to let them know how great I was and then I didn’t book it. It happens. Life happens. Once you’ve done your part it’s up to the advertising or production company to make their decisions.

On the book front, I’m working on a complication book which will include my first two books in the Inspire Me Series and some new poems from my upcoming book Inspire Me: Awakening Dreams.

Poetic Resurrection Podcast S4A new season on the Poetic Resurrection podcast ,released on Monday Apr 4th. This season we’re discussing Awakening Dreams. Tune in this season for an array of guests informing us as what pivoted them into their life choices.  Listen in to the podcast here.

Chica & the Man E6Chica and the Man has a new episode as well. On March 31st we discuss “Successes”. We normally hear about the lows in peoples lives but we wanted to concentrate on the good experiences. The strange thing is some of the smallest incidents create so much joy.

Another Exciting Week in March!

DDO Sonia Iris LozadaI can’t tell you how grateful I am for the month of March. It has been amazing. As mentioned last week, I had a wonderful time on the print shoot. This week I got picked up for the commercial department at the DDO Agency. They represented me in the print department and are responsible for the print job I booked. Thank you Julie, Cassie and Krystal.  Thank you Marlene for your welcome email.

Print Jobs and Acting Friends

Sonia Iris Lozada Print Job
Sonia Lozada

This week has been exciting. I had booked a print job as mentioned last week and it was for one day. They called me in for a second day – Yay! Met really great people on the set and we exchanged numbers. That is always a plus. Grateful for the opportunity.

Worked on a SAG short and it got a go ahead to continue. I’ll be completing the show in May.

This is a great surprise and excitement for two of my acting friends. The film short they did was nominated for an Oscar! Wow! There are only three or four actors and two of them are friends. Small world and I’m very excited for them. Actors need to support each other.

Healing Women PoetsPlease visit the Poetic Resurrection Podcast. This week in honor of Women’s History Month we celebrate Healing Poets. These women are poets and their poetry is self-healing and mindful. Check it out.

Until next week. Be grateful, be fair and have compassion for all.

Yay! I Booked a Print Job

Good news this week. I booked the print job I mentioned last blog where I was on hold. Monday 3/14/2022 is the fitting and the actual shoot is 3/18/2022. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly. I just love booking gigs. I didn’t even have to audition for this one. Yay!

Poetic Resurrection Women LeadersIn the meantime, check out my Poetic Resurrection Podcast where I acknowledge the wonderful women leaders who have been on the podcast in honor of Women’s History Month. The entire month is dedicated to the women that have been on the podcast.

Consistency or Not

Sonia Iris Lozada

Consistency. A word most of strive for and then something happens and there goes consistency. That’s me with my acting website. I just realized I hadn’t posted in two weeks. In this meantime, I interviewed two new guests – Christoph Jenkins and CEO Spoken King on my Poetic Resurrection Podcast. February was Black History Month and I enjoyed speaking with Christoph, CEO and Egypt.

As for acting (inconsistent), I’m on hold for a print job. No theatrical auditions lately. I’ll keep you posted and fingers crossed things will get prosperous

Resume and gallery.

Typical Week

This past week has been a typical week. Well, as typical as it can be knowing we’re still in a pandemic. I had another self-tape for the same casting office, as I did the previous week.

I’m working on a new Pinterest page that includes my personal quotes and lines from my poetry. I’ll post a link when that is up. I’ll be updating my gallery because I have new pictures.

There’s a new episode of the Poetic Resurrection Podcast (releases weekly) with guest Dr. Egypt Iredia a medical doctor and poet who got into spirituality and now incorporates her passions.

My other podcast Chica and the Man which only releases once a month. The last episode on that one is Let’s Talk about Cars.

Acting, Poetry and Podcasting

This week has been busy with editing my poetry for the upcoming book Inspire Me: In Time of Need and a compilation of many of my poems into an eBook. Needless to say, I’ve been keeping myself and my editor busy.

On the acting front-I’ve had several auditions in the last few weeks and one seems promising.

My two podcasts The Poetic Resurrection Podcast and Chica and the Man had episodes released this week.  Having to edit two podcasts and do social media is time-consuming but enjoyable.

Poetic Resurrection Podcast PoetryThe Poetic Resurrection is a weekly podcast that explores perceptions. I’ve been honored with great poets, leaders, and guests. There are also meditations on this podcast. Check out the website.

Chica & the ManChica and the Man is a monthly podcast that I have with podcaster Alex Greenwood. This podcast’s subtitle is As Unscripted As It Gets and it really is. We usually pick a topic that day and just go for it. We have fun, laugh, and banter. Check out the website

In the meantime, check out the Gallery and watch the acting video that’s referred to on episode 4 of Chica and the Man.

Poetic Resurrection – Colors of Life – Teddy A Children’s Story

Colors of Life – Teddy A Children’s Story

Teddy - A Children's StoryA couple of years ago, I was thinking of writing children’s books; I came up with this story called Teddy. I named it after a teddy bear that I’ve had for many years. Not that creative with the name.

I recorded the story at the SAG AFTRA Voiceover lab. At the time I was practicing being a reader of audiobooks.

Today’s mood I wanted it to be uplifted and have something children can listen to. Self-reflection is always a good thing, but today we’re going to have fun with a simple rhyming children’s story. Enjoy the story of Teddy and his friends. Please let me know what you think in the comments. Have a blessed day.

Teddy bear sits on a chair
Sees me and stares
What will we do today?
Can we go out and play?

Yes, we can, little one
Let’s go out and have some fun
The day is sunny
Teddy says, “I want some honey.”

Walking down a forest path,
Suddenly we hear a splash
“Help me please!” yells the bee
I can’t swim in the sea

Teddy grabs a stick
Bee asks, “Is this a trick?”
“No, grab on, I’m here to help.”
The stick is what the bee held

Out the bee came soaked
The bee dried himself and spoke
“Thank you for saving me
Can I offer you some tea?

“I don’t have any money,
Do you want some honey?”
Yes, I do
For my tea brew

Tea party and all are happy
Time to go home for nappy
The day was fun
Being out in the sun

Thank you, sunshine
For my lunchtime
This beautiful day
In the month of May

Colors of Life – Grieving Dreams

Grieving DreamsOne of the most difficult issues of letting go has been acting.  I was grieving my dreams. I love it and I have a passion for it, but realizing I wasn’t going to be making a living from it was heartbreaking. If it comes up I’ll be happy to be on the set. I discuss this in the episode.

Grieving Dreams is when we review our lives and realize a dream we have pursued so long doesn’t benefit us anymore.

I recorded an episode of my other podcast, Chica and the Man with my co-host Alex Greenwood. We talked about career changes and how it affected us. (Listen to that episode here).

How we grieve when we have pursued a job, career, or a business and gave our heart and soul to it only to have to let it go. We know it’s the right thing to do, but yet there’s this sadness of letting go. We think what-if I could have done more? Where did I go wrong? Was I just not good enough? In reality, I feel the lessons and importance of it have run its course. When we feel this way, it is a form of grieving. We need to address it. As Eleanor Haley from Grieving the Loss of Hopes and Dreams states: When we care deeply about something, it can be difficult to know when to let go. Sometimes our hopes are all we have to keep us getting out of bed in the morning. People always like to say things like, It’s never too late to follow your dreams and many times this is true. When there’s a chance to see your dreams through or there is still joy in the journey, by all means, keep going.

I grieved letting go of acting. There was no more joy in the journey. I knew I couldn’t make a living at it, yet I pursued it for many years. I was in disbelief because I had invested so many years and my soul in it. How can I love acting and the career doesn’t love me back? Nowadays, if it comes my way, I’ll be happy to do it. It’s the pursuit of it I have released. It was heartbreaking and liberating at the same time.

Grief is a normal response to loss during or after a disaster or other traumatic event. Grief can happen in response to loss of life, as well as to drastic changes to daily routines and ways of life that usually bring us comfort and a feeling of stability. Common grief reactions include:

  • Shock, disbelief, or denial
  • Anxiety
  • Distress
  • Anger
  • Periods of sadness
  • Loss of sleep and loss of appetite

CDC on grief and Loss (see link below)

Regardless of the scenario, the loss of hopes and dreams can be incredibly hard to accept and cope with. Eleanor Haley.

Deep listening is the practice of turning toward your feelings and emotions.

Most of us have the tendency to run away from anything uncomfortable within us. It’s only natural. But numbing, avoiding, and rejecting our pain only makes what we feel larger and ‘scarier’ than it truly is. When we turn toward our pain with curiosity and gentleness, we often find an immediate sense of relief. Aletheia Luna

What I’ve learned through grief is to accept, be kind, and love myself. Life will have its moments, it’s part of living. Learn to ride the beautiful, never-ending passions and gifts of life.

The poem for this week is Quiet from Inspire Me: Perception

Black and white
Chrome bedroom
Reflects silvery gray moods of
The uncharted mind

Incandescent garden lights
Shine through the blinds
Marking lines on face
Stares at the light

Answers from another realm
Beyond our three dimensions
Silence prey’s existence of
Yearning questions

An essence enters
Smoky figure gazes
Into questioning eyes
Serene presence felt

Changing monochrome
Movie of thoughts and dreams
Reflect on cheeks and lips
Grin extends to essence

Crimson smile, blushing face
Sends joy to ashen figure as
Chromatic shades appear and
Smoky image disperses

Lights fade into darkness
REM creating memories of
Longevity with peaceful
Nightfall sleep

Goodnight
